Transportation in Canada is at the frontier of revolutionary new methods and technologies that will affect every aspect of the industry. However, are we doing enough to promote public awareness of transportation as a critical link to economic growth? Will we be able to attract the next generation of professionals needed to help Canada compete in the global market?

This panel discussion will examine recent innovative public awareness strategies in Western Canada. Attendees will also hear about the monumental logistics effort and transportation good news story of a small municipality that played host to the world following the September 11 terrorist attacks. As well, the panel will serve to introduce a brilliant new star from the next generation of aspiring engineers: Gina Gallant, the 16-year-old inventor of the PolyAggreRoad.

Il faudra sous peu intégrer au secteur canadien des transports des méthodes et technologies révolutionnaires qui auront des incidences sur toutes les facettes de l’industrie. Ceci dit, consacre-t-on suffisamment d’efforts pour sensibiliser le public à l’importance du rôle primordial des transports à l’appui de la croissance économique? Arriverons-nous à nous donner la relève voulue en professionnels des transports, de manière à permettre au Canada de soutenir la concurrence sur les marchés globaux?

Cette table ronde permettra d’examiner les récentes stratégies innovatrices de sensibilisation du public qui ont été mises en œuvre dans l’Ouest du Canada. Les participants pourront également se renseigner sur les gigantesques efforts de logistique consentis par une petite municipalité et les succès de celle-ci au titre des transports destinés à accueillir des voyageurs du monde entier à la suite des attaques terroristes du 11 septembre. Enfin, cette table ronde servira de prétexte à la présentation d’une nouvelle étoile montante de la prochaine génération d’ingénieurs, en l’occurrence la jeune Gina Gallant, 16 ans, inventeure de PolyAggreRoad.
