MEILLEURES PRATIQUES INNOVATRICES POUR
LES INFRASTRUCTURES MUNICIPALES DURABLES (SÉANCE)
EMERGING BEST PRACTICES FOR SUSTAINABLE MUNICIPAL INFRASTRUCTURE (SESSION)
Président / Chair: Mike Sheflin, Chair, Roads and Sidewalks
Technical Committee, InfraGuide, Ottawa
publication.
In 2001, the federal government, through its Infrastructure Canada Program
and the National Research Council, joined forces with the Federation of
Canadian Municipalities to create the National Guide to Sustainable
Municipal Infrastructure. Also known as InfraGuide, the
publication is both a new, national network of people and a growing collection
of published reports for use by decision-makers and technical personnel
in the public and private sectors. Based on Canadian experience and research,
the reports set out the best practices for municipal infrastructure delivery
in six key areas: municipal roads and sidewalks, potable water, storm
and waste water, decision-making and investment planning, environmental
protocols and transit. To date, 31 best practices have been published
including eight dealing with road issues. Two upcoming road-related best
practices will be presented at this session. Visit www.infraguide.ca for
more information on the publication.
